This individual will advance the lead established by VMware ESX in reliability, feature-richness, availability, performance and scalability, for wireless infrastructure. In this highly technical and challenging position, you will be responsible for a wide range of functionality ranging from low-level kernel infrastructure for resource management and scheduling, right up to the end-user installation and upgrade experience. Success will be measured by internal and external customer satisfaction and partner preference towards working with VMware.<br/><br/>Responsibilities<br/>The Product Line Manager, Wireless Infrastructure is responsible for driving VMware&#8217;s product strategy and technical directions in the next generation of the ESX Core Platform to support low-latency wireless infrastructure telecommunications services. You will work closely with customers, partners and internal stakeholders to identify and define product requirements and initiatives to advance VMware&#8217;s lead in virtualization and applicability to the wireless infrastructure vertical. You will be an informed and tireless advocate for wireless equipment manufacturers and wireless carriers, and will succeed by thinking about the whole product experience, deployment model, support model and conformance to telecommunication industry regulations. You will be responsible for developing, articulating and championing the business case for investing in these initiatives in a highly competitive internal marketplace of product ideas. In addition to defining product requirements, you will work closely with your engineering counterparts throughout the product execution phases, and will provide leadership on go-to-market and launch efforts.<br/><br/><b>Requirements</b>:<br/>- At least 6 years prior work experience with:<br/>o 3+ years in product management, technical marketing or solutions architecture, in the telecommunications industry<br/>o 3+ years in software development or engineering management at a software, networking or telecommunications company<br/>- Familiarity and ability to intelligently discuss with customers the requirements around supporting key elements of wireless architecture, such as IMS, 3G/4G protocols such as UMTS or LTE, and OSS/BSS systems.<br/>- BS in Computer Science or related technical field with MS or Ph.D. preferred. MBA a plus<br/>- Solid knowledge of OS architecture and internals<br/>- Superb written and verbal communication skills characterized by clarity and brevity<br/>- Dynamic and engaging speaker comfortable in front of audiences of all sizes<br/>- Ability to influence people at all levels across a broad variety of job functions<br/>- Exceptionally strong analytical skills and a natural predisposition toward data-driven decision making.
