As Sr. Director of Network & Telecommunications, you will be building and managing a team of forty plus employees that are responsible for laying the Network and Telecom foundation for the VMware global cloud services delivery vision. The position will be responsible for managing a budget of $35-$40 million. This position requires a technical leader who can create and execute the strategy that will ensure the stability, security and integrity of VMware's corporate data, voice, call center, video and wireless services. This individual will lead and manage a progressive support staff in a complex and global environment and maintain national and international vendor relationships to ensure an optimal environment. This individual will participate in, as well as direct the design, implementation, monitoring, maintenance, support and optimization of, all communication platforms at VMware. It is critical that the right candidate work closely with all affected departments to provide solutions which are suited to their needs, while adhering to commonly used industry best practices. The right individual will work on creating both strategic and tactical plans relevant to department and company goals.

Success in this role requires very strong technical leadership skills, a broad background and understanding of every aspect of Networks & Telecom architecture, technology, operations and vendor strategy in the cloud era, the ability to envision the Network/Telecom operating model of the future, experience in the design of network monitoring and management and monitoring frameworks, and strong abilities in the areas of process development and management, organization, planning, and communication skills. Responsibilities
We are seeking a seasoned technical leader who has the demonstrated ability to provide disciplined and inspired leadership with experience in building and running high performance Network and Telecom infrastructure, design, deployment and operations teams. The role requires a solid technical background and specific deep experience in all aspects of Network and Telecom strategy in terms of architecture, design, operations, vendor strategy and cost management. The ideal candidate should possess a thorough knowledge of industry leaders and partner technologies, and emerging Network and Telecom industry trends and best practices. In addition, the leader will:
- Manage a global Network and Telecom staff with strong leadership experience at attracting and keeping motivated staff

- Lay the foundation for Continuous Availability, Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity planning as they relate to Network and Telecommunications infrastructure and capabilities.
- Work with key VMware technology planners and technical staff to create reference architectures and road maps for every layer of the Network and Telecommunications service delivery ecosystem, including, but not limited to the following:
o Network – LAN/WAN/Wireless
o Security Infrastructure

Required skills and experience

Key to success will be the leadership and change management skills at instilling rigor into the creation of key architecture, design and technology selection processes, including technology lifecycle management. In addition you will:
-Work with internal engineering, product management, global support services (GSS) and other strategic teams to create and articulate VMware’s vision for the software defined data center, including global cloud infrastructure architecture, network, systems and storage virtualization design, cloud operating models and tools frameworks, and other supporting technologies and processes.
-In the support of the global cloud services delivery model, set standards for and provide leadership and guidance around the creation of reference architectures and road maps which clearly tie back to business drivers, service delivery targets and business functional and technical requirements, incorporating the current capabilities of VMware’s private cloud and other computing platforms and environments.

The Alliances System Engineer, Wireless Infrastructure will be the primary technical interface between VMware and telecommunications equipment manufacturers (TEMs) to work on projects to virtualize wireless infrastructure components (which offer 3G/UMTS and 4G/LTE services). This individual will work closely with the Strategic Account Manager to define and execute the technical aspects of our wireless infrastructure strategy. This strategy will align VMware’s corporate objectives for this vertical with that of our partners to enable VMware to increase our sales in 2013 and beyond.

Responsibilities:
- Evangelize technical value of the VMware platform with target accounts
- Serve as the primary interface with partner technical contacts on wireless infrastructure projects
