VMware Inc., a pioneer in virtualization software for industry-standard computers, is seeking software engineers to be responsible for sustaining activities on GSX, ACE and Workstation product lines.

Areas of support focus will include providing sustaining engineering support for windows device drivers for our GXS, VMware Server, ACE Workstation and Fusion product lines.

You will use your problem analysis expertise both in defect and performance issue resolution to manage and resolve product defects.

Responsibilities:

- Contribute to the core of our advanced and challenging virtualization technology
- Perform root cause analysis and resolution for customer related product issues
- Utilize problem analysis expertise in defect and performance issue resolution to manage and resolve product defects
- Create diagnostic tools for use in sustaining activities
- Contribute to the knowledge creation database and development of best practices
- Senior hires will mentor their fellow team members in technical ability and software development process

Requirements

- Proficient in the C and C++ programming languages
- Systems or Kernel development skills in Linux and/or Windows
- Experience in device drivers development in one or more of the following: mouse, keyboard, video, file systems, networking, USB
- Strong debugging and troubleshooting skills
- Good understanding of PC Architecture is a plus
- Strong team player and customer interaction skills
- Familiarity with virtualization technology is a plus
- Good communication, documentation, and organizational skills required
- B.S. in computer science, engineering or math and 5+ years' experience or M.S. and 2+ years' experience
