Position Overview: The Finance Manager position at VMware requires a well-rounded individual who has a demonstrated ability to deliver results in a high growth environment. The ideal candidate has 10+ years of relevant experience, a strong business understanding, excellent verbal and written communication skills, and top-notch Excel skills. Demonstrated ability to translate financial issues into simple business language and help drive analyses for the HR organization is a must. In this position, the individual will be responsible for providing financial business partnering to the HR function and provides a unique and exciting opportunity to interact closely across all levels of this organization including recruiting. This analyst reports into Finance but will spend most of her/his time providing analytical support and guidance to the Management within HR.
Responsibilities: - Working with the HR function to help with all analytical analysis that has interface to Finance including recruiting additions, recruiting investments and other people related analysis. With the exponential growth driven by the business this is a key focus area for the company. - Driving the quarter end close process for all HR items including the identification of cost accruals and developing processes within the HR spending to ensure that expenses are captured on a timely basis. This includes maintaining a tight linkage with the accounting team to ensure accuracy of financials for these groups. - Managing the reporting, tracking, and reconciliation process for headcount hiring in conjunction with the HR recruiting and HR operations team to provide weekly estimates of expected hiring for the quarter. - Driving the next fiscal year’s budgeting and planning for these groups and for the critical. resources they manage which includes people acquisition goals and benefit program ROI’s. - Responsible for the monthly forecasts, ensuring the submission is timely and accurate. - Compiling and distributing reports on expense details to allow the business team to manage within the available resources. - Communicating with the Corporate FP&A team and the accounting team to provide timely updates on key changes. - Providing input and recommendations for streamlining processes and making process improvements. - Performing other ad hoc analysis and assist with projects as required.
Qualifications: This position requires a Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration with a minimum of 10+ years experience in high tech or similar industry. Strong Excel skills, familiarity with Oracle and/or Hyperion Planning a plus, demonstrated knowledge of financial planning and reporting processes, working knowledge of basic accounting principles, strong analytical and customer support skills, excellent communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills. 5+ years of financial planning and analysis experience is required.
