Finance Manager
Position Overview: The Finance Manager position at VMware requires a well-rounded individual who has a demonstrated ability to deliver results in a high growth environment. The ideal candidate has 10+ years of relevant experience, a strong business understanding, excellent verbal and written communication skills, and top-notch Excel skills. In this position, the individual will be responsible for supporting the total company P&L forecast model as well as the monthly forecast and annual planning processes.
Responsibilities: - Timely and accurate development and completion of monthly forecasts, forward looking quarterly guidance, and annual budget. - Prepare and analyze Corporate Financials in conjunction with Forecasts and Budgets. This includes oversight of the monthly and quarterly financials, budget and forecast variance analysis. - Provide “big picture” perspective of financial forecasts, budgets, and plans through analysis and insights. - Drive the analytics required for the corporate earnings call with the Street. This would include identifying key metrics and communicating with responsible business and FP&A personnel to understand underlying significant trends. - Financial performance benchmarking (internal and external) with benchmark companies. - Financial analysis and scenario modeling for key corporate initiatives. - Create a process framework to work closely with Field FP&A and the accounting groups to work towards predictability. - Provide design input from a business requirements standpoint to drive the creation of a planning system.
This role would report to the FP&A Director.
• B.A. or B.S. in Business, Finance, or Accounting; a MBA, or CPA is preferred • At least 10 years of experience in finance/accounting with an emphasis on financial analysis techniques with or on behalf of public companies • Prior experience with financial planning and analysis and interfacing with Senior Management • Ability to build analytical models that can be driven into standard planning tools • Strong organizational, problem solving and analytical skills • Strong initiative and desire to work in a team-oriented environment • Self-starter with excellent time and project management skills • Proficiency in computer-based analysis and complex financial modeling • Experience with Microsoft Excel, Oracle Financials, and implementation of FP&A software tools • Strength in researching, understanding, and succinctly explaining complex transactions and business impact • Ability to drive process based improvement across functions and within Finance • Integrity
