Job Description -Alliance Manager (Desktop Focus)

The Alliance Manager, Desktop is responsible for managing VMware’s partnerships in the Desktop ecosystem. S/he will be responsible for understanding the partner ecosystem, identifying alliance prospects, and driving high-value initiatives ranging from technology integration to business partnerships.

Responsibilities:
• Devise VMware’s partnering strategy with the Desktop ecosystem, establishing strategic goals, priorities, and programs
• Develop and manage relationships across the Desktop ecosystem, ensuring that VMware and partners are appropriately engaged throughout all levels of both organizations
• Champion industry leadership in Desktop by working in conjunction with key partners
• Identify and drive high value, joint projects aimed at using virtualization to build better Desktop architectures
• Maintain a roadmap of projects with the partners and drive them to successful closure
• Become the business and virtual team lead for alliances, technology, and marketing investments across these partnerships
• Provide partner with access to VMware resources and knowledge as appropriate to enable partner to build a successful business with technology solutions complementing VMware
• Ensure as needed, alignment of roadmaps and product releases, and also guide appropriate integrations between partner products and VMware products
• Drive joint go-to-market activities. Work closely with VMware marketing and the partner’s marketing teams to identify and drive a variety of joint marketing programs: awareness, demand generation, field programs, channel programs

Requirements:
• 6+ years experience at a high-growth Desktop software/solutions company, preferably with functional expertise spanning alliance/business development, product management, and product marketing
• Good understanding and knowledge of Desktop solution areas
• Expertise in creating, driving, and executing Desktop solutions by defining all elements from strategy through market implementation
• Demonstrated effectiveness in relationship-building and influence skills with a broad constituency spanning external partner companies, and internal groups including Business Development/Alliances, Product Management and Marketing, Engineering and Sales
• Ability to work out results-oriented win/win plans in complex partnership scenarios
• Good blend of analytical skills, strategic thinking, planning and implementation
• Crisp and effective communicator who can work well within extended teams
• B.S. degree in a technical discipline required
